The race is on

Another fortnight and another series of national pledges to “go cashless”. With Turkey planning to be cashless by 2023, Azerbaijan announcing measures to promote cashless payments in the country and now analysts suggesting the United Arab Emirates could be the first country in the world to abandon plastic payment cards in favour of mobile phones, the race to be the first truly cashless society across the region is heating up. Who will win is anyone’s guess but the level of attention these initiatives are drawing can only strengthen the region’s growing payments industry.

Don’t forget The Eurasia Payments Report 2011 launches this month. We’re holding an exclusive launch briefing to celebrate. We hope you’ll join us. Details can be found by following this link.
